Toledo Game Recap

We’re back! (once again) Miami returns to another striking win.

On Saturday, September 24th, the now ranked Canes continued a strong start to the season with a 52-30 win against the Toledo Rockets from Ohio.

Total Yards Surged // 587

Passing // Starting QB Malik Rosier provided another excellent performance with 333 passing yards with three touchdowns and a 23-yard touchdown on the ground.

Rushing // Running Back Mark Walton continued to prove to be one of the best in college football with a career-high 204  yards on 11 carries and a score. Walton injured his ankle in the second quarter, but came back into the game to continue his dominant performance. Travis Homer had an excellent performance with 2 TDs including the game-sealing TD in the 4th quarter.

Defense // Miami stayed strong and shook off the rust against a team that averaged 46 points a game. They limited the Rockets to 30 points and showed resilience after a rough second quarter. Highlight: the turnover chain made a comeback when Sheldrick Redwine recovered a fumble recovery in the 3rd quarter.

Off the Field

In Miami fashion, the Canes yet again dominated social media with the precious turnover chain. The chain was awarded to defensive back Sheldrick Redwine for his fumble recovery, and it still is a viral sensation. As predicted in week one, talk is continuing about the return of the U and all that it means to those at the U and surrounding areas.

Thoughts//

Just like last week, we will leave you with a few thoughts we had during the game. Tune in next week for a recap of the Duke game this Friday at 7pm.

“Where even is Toledo”

“Mark Walton, total savage”

“I can’t wait for the fight song to play, after we score again”

“Where are the fire extinguishers, it’s scorching”
