One block west of the Lin¬coln Road Mall, hidden above Miss Yip’s Chinese Cafe, is the anti-SoBe venue Buck15. From the moment you step through the door, the atmosphere of the club takes you to a hip city loft strewn with artwork, a scene al¬most as funky as the smell in the stairwell. Sunday is a prime night to visit Buck15 as it’s when two South Florida-based indie bands are featured. Open Minds Mondays at Jazid
Jazid has been a South Beach staple for more than 10 years. Although it has made its mark as a prominent live music venue, Jazid also features nightly DJs on its upper level. Open Minds Mondays is a scene to check out when you want to hear and see live, unique music and art. Fully embrace the experience without break¬ing the bank thanks to $5 Corona and Tequila shots and just $4 Kamikazes and Lemon Drops. Parking is an expensive pain, so filling a cab is your best bet; however, if you insist on showing off your ride, metered parking is available. 21+

Reggae Tuesdays at Bougainvillea’s
Less than a mile walk from Ponce Garage, Bougainvillea’s is a live music treasure for the University of Miami. Run by accomplished musician Eric “Uncle Scotch” Garcia, Bougie’s has a laid back atmosphere in an old Florida tavern, complete with a nice garden out front and a cozy pine bar inside. Every Tuesday night is Reggae Night, featuring a different local artist, the mandatory $4 Red Stripe special, and no cover charge. If carpool¬ing, Bougainvillea’s is located across from Sunset Place, so there is plenty of parking nearby for a small fee. 21+

Jazz Wednesdays at Tobacco Road
There’s a lot that can be said about Tobacco Road, considering it’s the oldest venue in Dade County at a ripe 97 years. With a restaurant on the bottom floor, a dim-lit stage, bar, jamming area upstairs, and a relaxing patio out back, Tobacco Road proves to be well-rounded for its large fan base. Formerly the number one speakeasy in South Florida, it’s no wonder the best live jazz can be found here on Wednesday nights. Combined with $11 all-you-can-eat ribs and dirt-cheap drinks, you can make your trip to Tobacco Road last through the night. Parking is provided on site for a small fee, or you can take your chances with the street parking in front. 21+

Stop, Drop ‘n’ Roll Thursdays at Electric Pickle
At less than six months old, the two-story venue Electric Pickle is perhaps the most recently established live music venue in Downtown Miami. The rustic interior, sleek furnishings, and neon liquor sign outside all support the uniqueness of the Miami music scene and the eclectic name of the venue. Every Thursday night, Electric Pickle features a new live band with a classic American roots flavor. Sometimes it’s the rockabilly stylings of Diablo Dimes, and others times, it’s the southern dancing tunes of Viva La Vox. Get there early for good parking and to avoid the cover, or be prepared to shell out $5 once the place gets full. 21+

Dance Fridays at Van Dyke
The Van Dyke Cafe is a historic landmark in South Beach known for its great food, and more importantly, its support of the local jazz scene. The second floor was recently transformed into a live music paradise with a state of the art sound system, full ser¬vice bar, and dance floor. On Friday nights, music legend Randy Singer books the best national and regional dance bands, including local hit band Ever So Klever, performing Dec. 4. There’s never a cover or age limit, and there’s a parking garage just down the street, making Van Dyke the place to be on a Friday night.

Rocking Saturdays at Transit Lounge
It has been said that Transit Lounge is the best live music venue in Downtown Miami, and witnesses of its crazed Saturday nights would have to agree. The huge space has a fun and upbeat atmosphere. Its main room contains a sizable stage showcasing the cream of the crop of live music in one corner, a rack of board games in the other, and a large bar in the center. Outdoors is a patio with three bars and a giant screen that allows you to keep tabs on what’s happening inside. Transit also recently added a delectable restaurant, which features French fries that many people are calling the best in the state. You can find the best local, regional, national, and even international live music acts on Saturday night. Parking is a breeze with $10 valet, but you can also try to find an open spot on the street. 21+
