Going to school at UM is pretty great. There are obvious things like our location and sports teams that we appreciate but one of the best things about attending the U is that finals week is never as bad as it is at other schools. The administration always eases the pain with a few nice things.  From free food to hammocks strung up on campus it’s easy to let go of the tension you’re feeling from exams and papers. … Snacking at Study Breaks

Hecht/Stanford and Mahoney/Pearson will be doing study breaks with free food starting December 2nd and going through December 8th. Check schedules in the lobbies to see what’s being served.

… Attending Midnight Breakfast

Midnight breakfast is a UM finals tradition that’s both fun and tasty. Swing by either the Mahoney-Pearson or Hecht-Stanford dining halls for free food that’s served by your professors, RA’s and Area Directors on Tuesday, December 4th at 9:30 pm. Shalala often makes an appearance and the food is good.

… Working Out at the Wellness Center

It’s been scientifically proven again and again that exercise is one of the only effective ways to reduce stress levels. Hop over to the wellness center for a workout and take a few minutes to chill in the hot tub or steam room afterwards. The stress will melt away.

… Swinging on the Hammocks

If you can manage to snag a hammock (located near the Cox Science Center) then you’re set for a treat. Whether you decide to take a five minute breather to sway under the sky or an hour long nap to recuperate from the all-nighter you pulled the hammocks are definitely one of the best ways to forget about finals (temporarily at least).

Our apocalypse issue is out now and is full of interesting reads. Pick up a copy from one of the many bins on campus and spend a study break getting informed and being entertained.
