Trendsetter of the Week: Vivian Braga

Meet Vivian Braga, our trendsetter of the week.

Let’s be real here. Unless you were blessed with the gift of fully functioning on three hours of sleep, it’s pretty much impossible for college students who are always on the go to look good all the time and still maintain an above average GPA. It’s usually one or the other — in most cases.

While so many college students lose their will to dress to impress (including me) after the first few weeks back in school, Vivian has found a way to always look good without even trying.

Her chic style combined with bold accessories set her apart from the crowd here at the U. Not only that, but she also totally gives off the “I have my life together” vibe we all truly desire. The good news is, you too can achieve Vivian’s go-to “stressed but well-dressed” look and still make it on time to your 9 a.m.

Name: Vivian Braga

Age: 20

Major: International Studies (pre-law track)

Nationality: Brazilian

Distraction Magazine: What two words describe your style?

Vivian Braga: I would say my style is urban chic. I prefer wearing basic pieces of clothing put together with bold accessories. A nice hat, a bag or simply sunglasses can change the feel of your entire look.

Distraction Magazine: Who are your fashion inspirations?

VB: Definitely Kristina Bazan, Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid and Kenza Zouiten. They all have a modern yet classy style that I’m obsessed with.

DM: What are your go-to brands?

VB: Number one is definitely Zara. Then, I’d have to say Topshop and online stores like Revolve Clothing and Nastygal.

DM: What would you describe the “Miami style” as and do you think you fit in well?

VB: Yes and no. I think girls in Miami wear a lot more colors and prints than I do. I tend to lean more towards white, black and nudes but at the same time, I love a good pair of shorts and cute summer tops.

DM: What is your advice for girls with 9 a.m. class and no time to get ready in the mornings?

VB: I’d say you can never go wrong with a pair of jeans and white t-shirt, it’s practical and comfortable. If it’s cold put a leather jacket on top and you’re set. Another good tip is to bring your sunglasses to cover up your dark circles from the night before. The most important thing to remember for anyone that wants to look and feel good in their clothes is that less is always more.
