On Monday September 9, Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed to the world what it already knew: Apple was releasing a new iPhone. What the world did not know is that Apple decided to take a leap into something not “Steve Jobs inspired,” but instead enter into a market previously dominated by Cartier and Rolex: watches. Below are the absolute most important things you need to know about the Apple Watch and the iPhone 6.
The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were announced in Cupertino, California, on September 9.
10. Apple released two new phones: the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus
Yep. There’s still two. The main difference between them is that the iPhone 6 Plus has a bigger screen than the iPhone 6. You also now have the ability to throw away your computer (if you want) because the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are available for purchase with up to 128 GB of storage.
9. Apple released a watch: the Apple Watch
According to Apple, it is taking technology to a whole new level by making it personal. Kinda like a letter, except not at all like a letter. More like a cell phone you wear on your wrist.
8. Do NOT call it the iWatch.
Don’t do it. You will sound like a newbie who isn’t “in the know.” It’s called an Apple Watch. You’re welcome.
7. The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are curved
It makes sense because the iPhone 3G and 3GS were curved. And three times two equals six.
And it’s been six PLUS one (seven) years since the first iPhone was released. So, the iPhone 6 and 6 PLUS (Get it? Plus one year? Clever.) absolutely MUST have curved edges.
The Apple Watch will come in two different sizes and prices will start at $349.
6. There are three Apple Watch collections.
There is an Apple Watch collection for every mood you could ever find yourself in and two different case sizes to match each collection.
There is the Apple Watch Sport collection for those days feel like working out until you remember you have leftover cheesecake in the fridge.
There is the simply named Apple Watch collection for those days you are feeling kinda basic.
And lastly, there is the Apple Watch Edition collection. This special piece was made for those days you are feeling especially expensive and you want the whole world to know because the watches in the Edition collection are made out of 18K gold.
5. You can finally see if you and your significant other’s hearts beat as one.
This is actually a cool feature. Messages you send on the Apple Watch can be seen almost instantaneously by your friend/mom/lover on their own Apple Watch. So you can send a picture of a flower you draw on the screen of the watch and whoever you send it to will watch your strokes as you draw the flower. It’s like Draw Something without the app. You can even share your own heartbeat. Sensors in the watch pick up your pulse and allow you to share it with other Apple Watch users.
If you are being ignored and none of these sly moves gets your person of interest’s attention, you can alert them to your presence right away on their own watch.
4. Features of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are improved.
The camera quality is improved, the battery life is improved and the screen is bigger According to Apple.
3.The iPhone Plug is still the same!
For every new thing that Apple improved on, five things stayed the exact same. Siri is still the same (although it’s rumored that there may be alterations soon). Fingerprint identity is also still a feature on the phone. Phone calls can also still be made over WiFi (This is a feature in the 5S, not the 5C and you can still FaceTime. Also, you can still borrow your friend’s iPhone 5 charger when your battery is low since the charging plug is still the same.
Apple Pay gives users the ability to store all of their cards on their phone.
2. Apple Pay
Apple Pay is now available in the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. Apple Pay allows you to make purchases with your phone in the store without a credit card. Now instead of carrying a wallet, you can just carry your phone and it will have all of your cards. Apple Pay is activated by Fingerprint Identity on the iPhone.
1. You can’t buy anything today.
The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus are set for release Friday September 19 and the Apple Watch is not set to release until early 2015…the suspense.
