To Tulle or Not To Tulle?

Let’s talk about what the feminine top bloggers are raving about this season: the tulle skirt. When I was 3, I ripped apart my closet to try on all my cute, pink, poofy skirts, twirled around and never looked back – until now. Thanks to the blogosphere, the fashionistas of the real world are becoming hooked on a chic and sophisticated version of their childhood ballerina costumes.

The tulle skirt is a surprisingly versatile day-to-night piece that will catch anyone’s eye. Whether in a mini, mid-thigh, or knee length, this skirt can effortlessly turn you into the belle of the ball. Don’t believe me? Here are four pictures from various fashion bloggers to help inspire you to pull off the look for yourself.

Macarena of The Material Girl

Personally, I love showing off my legs. So I love how blogger Macarena chose a mini tulle skirt and paired it with heels to give her legs some added length. Also, the white fitted American Apparel top lets the skirt shine and the top bun adds a cute ballerina-esque touch.

Bestie Konisis of The Capricious Club

The best part? The tulle-skirt obsession is not only exclusive to the US, but also extends to other parts of the world. Veteran fashionista Bestis Konisis, from Manila, styled her above-the-knee tulle skirt with a long sleeve leopard top. Who doesn’t love leopard? Plus, the sleeve length is perfect for those few scattered wintery days Miami gets per year. The red bag is just the icing on the cake for this good-enough-to-eat ensemble.

Stephanie of The Diary of a Debutante

Florida’s very own blogger, Stephanie, chose a midi tulle skirt cut. This length is both demurely stylish as well as daringly chic, which makes it perfect for special occasions. The color is stunning and would compliment most skin tones, while the black turtleneck and shoes accent the skirt perfectly. I’m a fan of anything metallic, so in my opinion this clutch is simply inspired, as is the entire look.

Carmen of Carmen Ottens

I’ve featured a few softer color skirts, but if you’re looking for something bolder, here’s an option to consider. This purple tulle skirt worn by Carmen is absolutely stunning. The color is bright, daring, and sure to bring you all the right attention. The beautiful hue is easy to pull off with the right amount of confidence. I love that she paired the skirt with a simple white top and dark indigo shoes, for just the right color combination.

This trend is no stranger to celebrities. Rihanna, Emma Watson and Anna Kendrick are just a few of the celebs that have been seen wearing the ballerina skirt. From white to black and every shade in between, the skirt can turn any tee or tank into an instant fashion statement. Rihanna displays how to style the skirt for a cute daytime look, while Emma shows that the skirt can be sophisticated enough for a nighttime red carpet affair.
