There’s a reason everyone seems to love the Spring in Miami. The sun is shining, the temperatures are rising once again and summer is on the horizon. It’s spring break, and there’s no better place to stay for the well deserved and much needed vacation than our very own home: Miami. With no need to travel at all, students seem to be excited to take this time to relax and unwind, all while enjoying what Miami has to offer.
Let’s see what some students have to say
Junior, Caroline McGill said she would like to explore some places around town she has never been. She said she would like to rent a jet ski, go to Vizcaya and go on the ferris wheel. Relaxing is also part of her plan.
“The perfect staycation for me would be sleeping in, reading a good book, cooking some good meals, and cuddling with my dog,” said McGill who is majoring in nursing. “If I were to stay in Miami my day would definitely consist of some beach time.”
Ashley DeBartolo, a senior accounting major, said that if she had an unlimited budget she would undoubtedly rent jet skis as well as a cabana. When she thinks of a staycation, she immediately thinks of the beach and sun.
“A staycation to me is being able to do fun activities without having to travel far from where I live,” said DeBartolo. “I’d go to more of the famous restaurants in South Beach and visit the Design District.”
The senior said she would also like to take the given time off to visit more art exhibits and museums around the city.
For some, however, a Miami staycation involves taking a complete break from academics. Junior Mason Napper said there is nothing he would rather do than relax.
“I’d definitely go to the beach and would probably use the rest of my time watching movies and playing video games,” said Napper, a sports administration major.
James Keen, a senior majoring in journalism, said he would like to take a night cruise looking over downtown Miami. Keen, who said he is fascinated with the many mysterious weather events in South Florida also has a backup plan incase it storms.
“If it does end up raining, I’ll just stay home, make myself a nice meal, and watch the exhilarating Miami thunderstorm,” Keen said.
