This weekend, Peacock Park in the Grove played host to the 49th Annual Coconut Grove Arts Festival. The long-running celebration of the visual, culinary and performance arts is a production of the Coconut Grove Arts & Festival Historical Association, which has funded more than $100,000 in arts scholarships since 1963 and manages two art galleries open year-round.
UM photojournalism sophomore Kristen Spillane made it out to the festival with her camera. Performing at Peacock Park while she was there was self-described “Afro-Latin-Baby-Makin’-Descarga-Funk” band Suénalo, the Miami-based Latin funk outfit that was voted the Miami New Times’ Best Latin Band of 2011.
