Sons of Anarchy: ‘Some Strange Eruption’
It’s back!!!! Sons of Anarchy is full throttle once again and I’m not sure where to start. The Sons are in an all out war with the Chinese. Jax almost gets to kill Lin but Lin is arrested first, Chibs gets in bed with the sheriff, and Gemma plans to kill Juice only to have the gun turned on her. The drama is back and it looks like it is here to stay.
This week’s episode picked up where last weeks ended: the massacre at Diosa. The episode starts with a calm Jax sitting among the numerous dead bodies having a smoke (messed up, I know). He soon gets up though and calls a lockdown, ordering everyone back to redwood before he calls the police. Cut to a nearly naked Chibs answering the phone after a romp with Jarry. We can see already that these two will have quite a bit of conflict if their relationship continues. The Outlaw and the Sheriff. Sounds like a passionate yet traumatic romance to me.
The aftermath of Diosa fuels the action for the rest of the episode. Jax blames himself for this unexpected blowback. Both are gutted by the loss but at least Jax understands why this happened. Nero is flabbergasted that the Chinese would do this. It is not until he is told by Barosky that he finds out it was payback for the Sons stealing the Chinese guns. Queue more than a few tense moments between Jax and Nero including a fist fight. Jax tells Nero that the Chinese killed Tara and he needs to pick a side.
Barosky stirs the pot even more. He and the Sons go to talk to Barosky’s man who had the night watch when the Chinese stole the guns back. Tig and Happy threaten to torture the poor guy by shoving a flute up his you know what. There’s some short lived comedic relief here until Barosky shoots the man before the Sons can really get much from him. Quite shady on Barosky’s part.
Still the show went on and Jax and Barosky devise a plan to take out Lin. It seems all is going well and Lin and Jax duke it out. Right when Jax is about to end Lin once and for all, the Sons are tipped off that the cops (not to be confused with Barosky’s cops) are on their way. So close but Jax still doesn’t get his revenge.
While this is all going down, Juice is unraveling. His paranoia has gown to the point that he kills the Chinese motel owner because he thought he was one of Lin’s guys. Gemma decides it’s time to get Juice out of there.
Gemma tells Juice that she is going to take him to her Dad’s place in Oregon. Juice falls asleep in the car. When he wakes he notices that they are headed south instead. Gemma make sup some excuse about Nero helping them get Juice off to Mexico. Noticing her gun is easily accessible he figures out that she plans to kill him. He comes clean to her about killing Darvany on Jax’s order. He also tells her he told Nero the truth the night he overdosed at Diosa, and that’s both why the club wants him dead and how he knows she’s lying to him now because Nero wouldn’t be helping him. As Gemma reaches for the gun, Juice grabs the wheel sending the car crashing into the fence. Juice emerges from the car with the gun as Gemma runs away. He fires a few shots telling Gemma to stop.
True to form, the episode end with a montage. The scenes flip back and forth between Juice pointing the gun at Gemma and the Sons riding out. Right before the episode ends, the Sons drive by and kill several members of Lin’s crew. The final scene cuts back to Juice once again pointing the gun at a pleading Gemma.
After this week’s episode, I have no idea where the season is going to go form here. A few things I do know is that both Gemma and Juice make it at least another episode. The preview of next week shows Juice going to Alvarez for protection. And as promised, at some point during the season Lea Michele will make a guest appearance as a waitress who talks with Gemma.
It’s kick ass and take names time for SAMCRO and no one is safe.
