Savvy Summer Saving

Finals are over and classrooms are empty— it’s finally summer! Everyone is ready to kick back and relax. While making the most of your summer might be your priority, your extracurricular expenses can really add up under your nose (because let’s be honest, summer break is expensive). Try using these discounts to get the most out of your summer without breaking the bank.

Music: Apple Music and Spotify Student Discount

Making your summer beach playlist and want to save a couple bucks? Both Apple Music and Spotify have student discounts that will save some money and keep your summer filled with tunes.

For Apple music, go into the iTunes or Apple Music app, go to your account information, and under subscriptions, select “Change to a Student Subscription.” After this, just put in your school’s website, and sign in with your school login information.

For Spotify, it’s a similar process. Open the app, go to account, and select change plan. From here, select the student option, select your school, and sign in. Enjoy your summer jams at a discounted price!

Movies: AMC Stubs Member Discount Tuesday

Want to see that new blockbuster on a budget? Well if you are an AMC Stubs member, you can see discounted movies on Tuesdays. You can become an AMC Stubs member by going on AMC’s website and signing up. Once you’re a member, just show your virtual card, physical card, or give your account information when purchasing the tickets. This is available at every AMC location, so wherever you are over the summer, you can cash out on this movie deal.

Travel: Tips on Flying Cheap

Planning on getting out of the country this summer? Use these tips to get a good price on your travel:

-Book your flight as early as possible. The earlier you book, the cheaper your flight will be. So if you know when and where you’re going, don’t wait to start booking your flight.

-Use a cheap flight search engine, such as Skyscanner or Momondo. These engines will help you find the cheapest flight for your destination and your dates of travel.

-Try flying into a city near your actual destination. Flying into a less popular airport can save you big bucks.

-Use a different airline coming back than the one you used to get there. Two separate flights on different airlines can sometimes be cheaper than booking a round trip flight from the same airline.

-Always search for flights in an incognito tab on your browser. The more you search for flights online, the more websites will track your activity and raise the price to try and get you to spend more. Using an incognito tab on your browser will keep your search activity private, helping you find the cheapest flight.

Shopping: Amazon Prime Student Discount

If you’re shopping for things to spice up your dorm room next year, you need this discount! Amazon offers a discounted Amazon Prime student subscription that offers 6 months of free Amazon Prime, free 2-day shipping, and unlimited access to Amazon’s streaming service: Prime Video. Also, once the 6 months are up, you can continue to use Amazon Prime at a discounted rate. Hard to pass up such a deal.
