Restaurants for Every Occasion

Miami is home to some of the best restaurants, but sometimes it can be hard to narrow them down. Not every restaurant works for every event. You wouldn’t normally go to a sports bar for brunch or go to a hectic restaurant if you’re trying to have an intimate conversation. Luckily we’ve compiled a list of some of the best places for every occasion.

Fancy Date Night– Love Is Blind

At Love Is Blind, every entrée comes with an appetizer of your choice, so you won’t have to worry about your date trying to steal some of your food (unless you’re into that sort of thing). Sharing is always a great way to try everything. If you’re a fan of Dolores But You Can Call Me Lolita or Crazy About You, Love Is Blind is owned by the same people, so expect the same great food, atmosphere and service.

Instagram-Worthy Breakfast– Threefold Cafe

Mason jars filled with flowers sitting on wooden tables and avocado toast make Threefold Cafe the ultimate hipster restaurant. Go for the Instagram, but stay for the food. Their Smashed Avo is a classic but if you’re up for something different try the Green and Gold Omlette or the Not So French Toast, if you really want to indulge. You also can’t go wrong with anything on their drink menu. They serve delicious fresh juices and for those who need a jolt of caffeine, they also serve Panther Coffee any way you like it.

South Miami: 6907 Red Road, Coral Gables, 33143; (305) 456 6762. Coral Gables: 141 Giralda Avenue, Coral Gables; (305) 704-8007.

Watching a Sports Game– Yardhouse

Wings are the ultimate sports food – don’t deny it. You don’t need to pay a lot of attention while eating, forks or knives are not necessary and no one cares if you get messy because they’re focused on the game too. Yardhouse is close enough to campus, right in the middle of Merrick Park, and home to some great wings. They have TVs strategically placed so no matter where you’re sitting you’re in a perfect spot to watch the ‘Canes take on the North Carolina Wolfpack next Saturday.

Shops at Merrick Park, 320 San Lorenzo Ave, Space 1320, Coral Gables, FL 33146; (305) 447-9273.

Lunch Date– Whisk

The ambience at Whisk is laid-back enough that you won’t feel anxious about your date and it’s never so full that you can’t hold a conversation with whoever you’re with. With all of the amazing food they have to offer, you and your date will have plenty to talk about, food-wise at least. Try one of their specials or anything that includes fried green tomatoes, you won’t regret it.

Dinner with Friends– Earls Kitchen + Bar

We all have that one friend that only eats cheeseburgers, it’s ok if that friend is you, but the great thing about Earls Kitchen + Bar is that they have everything: burgers, salads, pasta, sandwiches, and even some Asian woks. Everyone in your friend group will be satisfied with the options and they tend to have seats for everyone whether you’re a group of five or ten.

Brunch– Town Kitchen & Bar

With a weekly brunch menu, Town Kitchen & Bar is perfect if you want to try something new. It’s now cool enough for you to sit outside comfortably and feel as though you’re on vacation. Their omelette’s are some of the best and always a solid choice, but if you’re feeling naughty try their lobster eggs benedict.

Birthday Party– George’s

If you’re from Miami, you know that it’s almost a rite of passage to have a birthday dinner at George’s on Sunset. Even if you’re not from Miami there’s a pretty high chance you’ve seen an Instagram of someone holding up a sparkler on their birthday at this very restaurant. If you can make it there on Thursday, they also have karaoke starting at nine. If that doesn’t say party, I don’t know what does?
