As Men’s Fashion Week came to a close, Paris’ Spring/Summer Haute Couture Fashion Week got its start. The week, beginning on the 22nd of January and ending on the 26th, featured a variety of well-known brands, along with others who were making a mark for the first time. Signature brands such as Chanel, Christian Dior, and Louis Vuitton, presented their established styles and the next season’s trends.
Chanel, in particular, left its audience in awe with its show-stopping looks. It consisted of a variety of classic Chanel structured suits and elegant evening dresses. The looks showed different shades of pastels, feather and bold new designs. Chanel’s finale dress was worn by one of the brand’s well-known faces, Lily Rose Depp. She stunned the crowds in a light pink, ruffle filled dress that marked the end of an amazing show.
Another haute couture brand that left its mark on the runway was Maison Margiela. The brand’s looks entirely took over social media. Many were amazed by the bold and carefully constructed designs used to create faces on the model’s clothing. The organizers of the show carefully contrasted the extravagant designs with the modest appearance of the arena. The runway was a sleek white, which made the already striking looks stand out all the more.
One collection that shocked and amazed viewers was the collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Supreme. When asked what impacted her the most during fashion week, Freshman Alix Hackman, said, “The collection that stood out to me the most was the Louis Vuitton collaboration with Supreme. I love collaboration between brands especially when they are so different, like a street style brand, like Supreme, and couture brand like Louis.” The Louis Vuitton x Supreme collection was transformative and caught the attention of the masses. The collaboration produced a variety of items, such as sunglasses, shirts, bomber jackets, and bags. The two brands managed to keep the marks of each of their individual styles and create a perfect fusion of street and high end fashion.
