Places to go if you love…

There’s no one topic more broad than travel. Travel provides infinite opportunities, which can seem overwhelming, but if you really think about it, is where the beauty of travel really lies. No matter the interest, budget, timeline or distance, there is always a place that will fulfill your #vacationgoals. World trotters often choose their next destination based on their own loves and desires to experience them through and through. As it turns out, quite a few people have the same infatuations.

Here’s a breakdown, city by city, of the best places to go for the most obvious fascinations for the…

Theater Lover: London, England

Theater has been a huge part of England’s culture for centuries now. It was initially introduced by the Romans and continued throughout the medieval era. The Renaissance, however, is when theater really took a stronghold over the capital city of London. There’s not a soul who doesn’t know the name William Shakespeare, certainly not in London. The world’s biggest poet, playwright and actor popularized theater through his 40-odd plays, initially performed at The Globe in London, which are still performed in theaters across the world today. The city is packed tight with a rich history in theater, which is still very much so in business. The West End of London, specifically, is known for its theaters. London is undoubtedly the place to go if you’re a theater-junkie.

Film Lover: Hollywood, California

This is an obvious one, isn’t it? But don’t dismiss Hollywood as too cliché before giving it a good look. Yes, Hollywood is considered a pretty touristy place to visit, but this is exactly the reputation it deserves. Hollywood is where film absolutely exploded and became a part of the everyday lives of billions. Film was revolutionized here and, as such, there is so much background to be explored and discovered. Whether it means taking tours of old or current studios or scoping out sites used to film many of the most well-known scenes in the industry, Hollywood simply cannot provide a dull moment for film enthusiasts. Hollywood earned its rep as a tourist trap and ought to be applauded, rather than dismissed for it.

Architecture and Design Lover: Stockholm, Sweden

This Western European capital city has always been known for its furniture and interior design manufacturing, but more recently it has also made huge strides in the architectural space. Rapid architectural innovation and experimentation has swept the country, with Stockholm serving as the leader. The Nordic city has a prime location which makes for incredible panoramic views all across the city of the unique and developing design as well as the many waterways. Minimalist masterpieces can be found located across the street from a beautifully intricate development, skyscraper or even a bright, avant-garde structure. There is seemingly no end to the interior design showrooms, stores or sites as well. Creators and daydreamers with an eye for this kind of thing would find themselves in designer heaven in Stockholm.

Fashion Lover: Paris, France

There’s no better place for some wardrobe inspiration than Paris. The city received its title as the world’s fashion capital due to its leadership within the industry and its devotion toward fashion as a part of the nation’s traditional culture. Many of the best designers of the day yield from Paris, including Chanel, Dior, Givenchy, Hermès and Yves Saint Laurent. The metropolis is brimming with fashion boutiques, studios and runways. Many luxury fashion stores and headquarters have found their home on the famous Avenue des Champs-Élysées and Avenue Montaigne, respectively. Paris hosts two fashion weeks every year, so if you’re looking for a true show of fashion brilliance then visit during these springs and fall events, usually in late February and late September.

Chocolate Lover: Geneva, Switzerland

~*~PSA: if you recently gave up chocolate for Lent 1. That’s crazy, but I applaud you, and 2. It is not advised that you read any further!!!~*~

Now it only makes sense that I wrap up this list with the very best topic: chocolate. I don’t know a single person who doesn’t love it. Occasionally, somebody comes along who is picky when it comes to their chocolate selection, but mention Swiss chocolate and any and all hesitation goes out the window. It’s the best of the best. Eating Swiss chocolate here in the States is one thing, but actually traveling to the city where all the magic happens? Now that’s an entirely different experience. The chocolatier options in Geneva go on and on and many offer taste testing and classes on the art of chocolate crafting.
