New Music to Expect in February and March

2017 is already off to a great start. At least, in terms of music. We’ve seen drops from Migos, Kehlani, and John Mayer. Now that January is basically over, we’re looking forward to what else is coming down the pipeline. Here’s a look at some new albums we’re excited to hear in February and March.

February 3rd

Big Sean – ‘I Decided’

The ‘Bounce Back’ rapper had a great 2016 as part of Twenty88, his hip-hop/R&B duo with Jhené Aiko, but now he’s back on the solo scene. Big Sean has been known to top charts with hits like ‘IDFWU’ and features on big tunes like Kanye West’s ‘Mercy’.

Sampha – ‘Process’

This up and coming British singer-songwriter-producer has worked with the likes of Drake, Kanye, Frank Ocean, and Solange and is now finally releasing his debut album. His soulful, electronic sounds have often been compared to that of James Blake. Sampha will be in North America during April and May on tour with The XX.

Syd (Syd tha Kyd from The Internet) – ‘Fin’

The lead singer from the neo-soul band The Internet will be releasing her first solo album. She already dropped one of the singles three weeks ago called ‘All About Me,’ which offers a mainstream hip-hop vibe in comparison to her band’s usual soulful, funky sound. Fans can pre-order the album on her website.

Lupe Fiasco – ‘DROGAS Light’

Fans have not heard from Lupe Fiasco since his 2015 release of ‘Tetsuo & Youth.’ His new album will feature big names like Ty Dolla $ign and Rick Ross. He recently dropped his single, ‘Tranquilo,’ in anticipation for the new record. According to his Twitter, Fiasco says the song is, “a personal prayer or manifesto to give you lucid direction in these troubled times.” Fiasco is known for his conscious rap lyrics, similar to artists like Common and B.O.B.

Fat Joe & Remy Ma – ‘Plata O Plomo’

After the huge success of their Grammy-nominated single ‘All the Way Up’ in 2016, Fat Joe & Remy Ma are planning on bringing even more hits to our ears. The new record will feature hip-hop anthems with features from French Montana, Ty Dolla $ign, the-Dream, Stephanie Mills, BJ the Chicago Kid and others.

Fifty Shades Darker Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

The steamy sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey has an exciting soundtrack with already released singles by Taylor Swift and ZAYN and Halsey. The album highlights other artists like Tove Lo, Nick Jonas, Nicki Minaj, and Kygo. We’re hoping this soundtrack is as amazing as the first one which brought us hits like ‘Earned It’ by The Weeknd and ‘Love Me Like You Do’ by Ellie Goulding.

February 17th

Bebe Rexha – ‘All Your Fault: Pt I’

Best known for the songwriting she did on tons of pop hits, Bebe Rexha’s new album will show just how capable she is of not only writing pop hits but being pop star. The album will be released in two parts and the singer is already scheduled for a tour featuring both parts of the album.

If you like The Band Perry or Lady Antebellum, you should give this album a listen.

March 3rd

Ed Sheeran – ‘÷’

With Ed Sheeran’s two singles, ‘Shape of You’ and ‘Castle on the Hill’, already topping the charts, this British singer-songwriter is ready to take over our hearts once more with his highly anticipated album. His last release ‘x’ gave us the all time favorite ‘Thinking Out Loud’. His sound has ranged from pop to folk to hip-hop, so who knows what’s to come? Sheeran is already scheduled for a global tour but has not announced North America stops, yet.

March 31st

Tinie Tempah – ‘Youth’

Tinie Tempah has already dropped a few singles in anticipation for his new album ‘Youth,’ including collaborations with Zara Larsson and Tinashe.Born to Nigerian parents, Tinie Tempah has worked his way up to be one of the UK’s biggest rappers. His new music offers fresh, catchy beats that are definitely club bangers. The British rapper will be on tour in Europe until April.

Nelly Furtado – ‘The Ride’

If you’re still singing “Promiscuous” when you’re getting ready, make sure to add more from Nelly Furtado this March when her sixth studio album is released. The pop icon, whose sound used to be similar to that of Justin Timberlake, is now moving towards a more alternative pop style with bouncy synths and an indie feel. This will be her first official project since 2012.
