Paris Je’taime and New York, I Love You use their anthologies to showcase both the cities where they’re set in, as well as its character brought about by its inhabitants. Although these films did not receive the best of reviews, Netflix managed to do it right this time by bringing us stories that the audience can relate to.
Netflix’s new original, Easy, takes all these elements to create a modern series of romantic stories in the Windy City.
Comprised of eight episodes, Easy portrays the varying love stories of everyday life. From a married couple just trying to reignite the flame to the controlling boyfriend with a scandalous decision, each story is a well-crafted display of human emotion.
Although each episode is it’s own topic, there are characters that show up throughout and establishes connections between these stories. By the time you reach the latter half of the series, you begin to notice the connections and begin to appreciate the the format of the show. Near the end, Easy forms a familiar feel to both its characters and its city, Chicago.
It’s a drama-comedy that’ll have you really thinking about your own definition of “goals”. Easy also features lots of guess stars such as Dave Franco and Orlando Bloom. Not only is this show good, it’s some quality binge-worthy television. Truly a Netflix surprise, I myself burned through the whole thing in one sitting (help me).
