Mash Edu: Beer Mixology

DSC_0012

College kids (age 21 and over) love beer.* If you’re feeling really risky this fall, I invite you to venture outside of the crappy beers that headline frat parties (mmmm PBR) and into something more adventurous. In the spirit of Brooklyn Brewery Mash, Abbey Brewing Company in Miami Beach recipes to take your beer to the next level.

Abbey Brewing Company has a fully stocked bar, but is also the home to signature handcrafted beers. With a small, intimate feeling, the Abbey attract a crowd much, MUCH, different than the one you’ll find at the various clubs in South Beach. Nothing but good vibes, great company and even better beer were experienced at this event.

Pros like founder Raymond Rigazio crafted three fall inspired beer cocktails for the event, which are available for a limited time at this hole-in-the-wall bar off 16th street.

If you go: Abbey Brewing Company, 1115 16th street, Miami Beach.

Mash Beer Mixology Cocktails:

1. Post Road Pumpkin Casserole, $13.00

Ever had the urge to try a beverage named casserole? Yeah, me neither, but YOLO, right? Pleasantly surprised, this special is a mixture of rum, organic pumpkin and Brooklyn Post Road Pumpkin Ale. Also, because casseroles completely creep me out, I rename this one the “Happy Pumpkin” because after a couple of these, that’s exactly what you’ll be.

2. French 75 Half Ale, $13.00

The next cocktail is a spin off the classic French 75 cocktail (a refreshingly citrusy drink with gin and Champagne). The French 75 Half Ale combines Smalls gin, Cointreau, and Brooklyn Half Ale to create a crisp and refreshing cocktail.

3. The Black Flip, $15.00

Is it too early for eggnog? Maybe. Do we care? Well, no we don’t. This special is a combination of Chocolate Stout, Cruzan Black Strap Rum and one raw egg. Yum.
