Letter From the Editor Issue 3

My Fellow Canes,

It’s finally here. After months of tireless effort, extensive planning, and late nights, we bring you the year’s first issue of Distraction. What? You thought we were talking about the election? Well, yes, there’s that oo. And we’ve put together an issue all about it.

The election this year may feel different to a lot of people. With the current financial situation, there is more at stake right now then there was just a few short months ago. And after eight years under an administration most of us weren’t able to vote for, we’re ready to make our voices heard.

We wanted this issue to really convey the mind-set of the student body during this exciting time. From the question of the youths vote to political divisions within households, our aim is to get you thinking. But don’t worry; it’s not all serious. (That’s what newspapers are for.) We’ve also got some tips on throwing an election night party, complete with drinking games, as well as a First Lady face-off.

We don’t care if you’re supporting Obama, McCain, or you still can’t let go of Ron Paul, just as long as you all get off your booties on November 4th and vote. Our future depends on it.

As my first issue at EIC, this was quite an adventure. I am so thankful for all the help I had putting this magazine together. From the designers, to the writers, to the photographers, editors, and publisher, this was a group effort. It’s not my magazine. It’s our magazine.

Now on to the good stuff!

Veronica Sepe, Editor-in-Chief
