Inescapable Fun at the Miami-Dade Fair

DSC_0070_online

The Fair; a magical place where fun is inescapable.

For 18 days each year, the Miami-Dade County Fair and Expo opens its doors to thousands of visitors of all ages. Featuring endless food stands filled with non-healthy options, rides that date themselves solely by requiring tickets made of actual paper, and buildings full of experiences, this fair has something for everyone.

Having lived here for almost four years, I had always wanted to visit the fair and this year I finally did. We spent the afternoon in the sun eating corndogs, candy floss, elephant ears and roasted corn (as our vegetable of the day) while roaming the grounds.

We saw a stunt show that went from not too promising to screaming at the top of our lungs because someone could have died. Part of our group watched an equestrian dance show, while others rode the Ferris wheel. The rest of us roamed a building full of stands that sold jewelry, fish, massage chairs, lamps, and of course, more food.

No matter what age, I recommend taking a day at the fair and stepping into the grounds of fun. If you have a phobia of germs then still go, but maybe BYO hand sanitizer.
