Girl Scout Cookies

With Girl Scout Cookies visiting campus this week, students go into over-drive buying cookies and claiming which is their favorite one. The real question is: is there a best one? Food editor Kristin Zheng and co-managing editors Thalia Garcia and Alina Zerpa got together and tried each one… for the sake of science, obviously.

S’mores: The newest cookie addition for the Girl Scouts, it’s a graham sandwich cookie with chocolate and marshmallow filling.

Kristin: I hold s’mores things to a high standard… but it’s a strong vanilla flavor. 7/10

Thalia: In comparison to the other ones, this tastes like one of those free cookies. 4/10

Alina: I just had a chocolate and vanilla cookie, nothing crazy. 4/10

Tagalongs: a layer of peanut butter with a rich, chocolaty coating.

Kristin: *Just closed her eyes and let out a really loud noise meaning she liked it* 8/10

Thalia: Pretty good, tastes like a Reese’s cup. 7/10

Alina: I’m not mind blown yet; this tastes just like Reese’s. 6/10

Thin Mints: round, mint-flavored cookies with a chocolate coating.

K: It’s so good, but I like the other ones too. 8 1/2 /10

T: It’s like a palette cleanser. They’re better than Tagalongs. There’s nothing else like a Thin Mint. 8/10

A: it’s not as overwhelming as I thought it would be, it’s pretty good. 7/10

Do-si-dos: crunchy oatmeal on the outside and peanut butter inside.

K: Tastes like a Ritz Cracker. 7/10

T: I still taste the mint from the other one, so this tastes like nothing. 5/10

A: I don’t get the hype; this tastes like cookies from the grocery store. 3/10

Savannah Smiles: zesty, lemon-flavored cookies dusted with powdered sugar.

K: It’s delicious, this is really good and it’s a nice break from the chocolate. Since they’re small, you probably get more bang for your buck. 8.4/10

T: Aw they’re like babies… but I don’t like it. It’s like a lemon into a cookie. *disclaimer: Thalia doesn’t like Lemon things* 3/10

A: It’s probably my favorite one because it’s strong and different from the other ones. We’ve had Ritz Crackers and restaurant mint chocolates so far, this is new. 8/10

Trefoils: shortbread cookie.

K: Good but it’s not anything special.  6/10

T: It’s good but it’s just a shortbread cookie. 6/10

A: I think this was my favorite one, I’m not even sure why but it’s so sweet and light. 9/10

Samoa: caramel and toasted coconut-covered cookies.

K: I think it’s delicious, I like that it adds texture which the others don’t. It’s chewy and has a nice consistency. It awakens my taste buds. 9/10

T: If I could only eat one cookie, it’d be this one. It’s easily my favorite one. 9/10

A: They’re good but I think I prefer the Trefoils, hand them over. 7/10

Conclusion

K: I think they’re all special in their own way. Props to the Girl Scouts.

T: Needs a glass of milk. Everything tastes better with milk, except for the Lemon one. Don’t eat more than two because then you get a stomachache. The best thing about them is that they’re all different.

A: They’re kind of overrated and I’m going to get judged for this, but I don’t get the hype. Overall good cookies, but nothing I can’t get without Girl Scout Cookies. I was expecting fireworks to happen and they didn’t.
