Fright Night Movies: What to binge this Halloween season

Halloween time is finally here! This is the time we get to dress up and not be judged by anyone, eat candy like there’s no tomorrow, and watch horror movies all day! Even though Halloween is only on October 31st, there is no excuse not to watch a different movie every weekend, or every day if you’re feeling the Halloween spirit on another level. Some of us are horrified to watch any scary movie, but on the other hand, some enjoy getting those goosebumps and love the jump scares. Here are a few recommendations if you are in the mood for a fright night!

Horror Comedies

The Babysitter – Netflix Original (2017)

On a simple night as any other, Cole (Judah Lewis) is going to spend the night with the hottest girl at his school, his babysitter Bee (Samara Weaving), since his parents are going out for a night in the city. Cole usually falls asleep early so he has no idea what Bee does after he goes to bed. On this specific night, Cole is intrigued to know what happens so he stays up. While Bee thinks he is asleep, Cole sees that Bee is part of a cult that does human sacrifices. And things just get bloodier and funnier the more you watch!

More horror comedies we recommend: “Better Watch Out”, “What We Do In the Shadows”, “Zombieland”, and “The Witches of Eastwick”

Jumpscares

It- 2017

A Stephen King classic gets a remake. “It” tells the story of seven kids who go after the cause of Georgie (Jackson R. Scott). Bill (Jaeden Lieberher), who is his brother, along with Richie (Finn Wolfhard), Beverly (Sophia Lillis), Eddie (Jack Grazer), Stanley (Wyatt Oleff), Ben (Jeremy Taylor), and Mike (Chosen Jacobs), all meet after several tragedies happen around the town, and decide to go after Pennywise, the Dancing Clown. These kids are definitely Hollywood’s future because their talent goes above and beyond. Join the Losers Club and go on their journey.

Want more scary, horror, jump scares vibes? Here’s what we recommend: “Insidious Trilogy,” “The Conjuring” (1 and 2), “Annabelle,” “Get out,”

Found Footage

As Above So Below (2014)

“Abandon all hope, ye who enter here”. A team of archeologists decide to explore the catacombs of Paris, France, known for being called the “City of the Dead” due to a number of skeletons present down there. But it does not end there! Follow Scarlett (Perdita Weeks), and her group of friends on thier journey to find the philosopher’s stone, and the spooky things they encounter.

More like “As Above, So Below: “REC,” “Paranormal Activity,” “The Blair Witch Project,” and “Cloverfield”

Classics (movies that are just as scary, as the day they came out)

Carrie (1976)

Another Stephen King classic, Carrie follows the story of Carrie White (Sissy Spacek) who is the typical shy girl who gets tormented by the popular girls. But on prom night, Carrie turns out to be not that introvert, shy girl anymore as she shows her real self when all her peers make fun of her.

More classics: “The Shining,” “The Exorcist,” “Psycho,” and “Texas Chainsaw Massacre”

Make sure you grab your best friends, your favorite candy, bake some goodies for Halloween, light some candles, and binge on!
