Emmy Red Carpet Trends 2017

The 2017 Emmys red carpet featured the usual, elegant dresses and suits that we have come to expect from televisions biggest stars. This year the awards show was a beautiful marriage between summer’s hottest trends and fall’s up and coming looks. With colors ripped straight from fashion week, the Emmys displayed a seamless transition into fall, all while saving your best summer pieces.

Summer trends that have yet to fade:

Blush Pink: One of the softest trends from summer 2017 made a major statement on the red carpet. It appeared that almost every other actress was wearing some variation of blush pink (or as some have dubbed it, Millennial Pink). By pairing these stunning gowns with silver accessories or detailing, each actress made this summer color fall acceptable.

Metallic Silver: Another trend that always seems to stick around is silver. These metal inspired looks are normally reserved for music award shows, where the looks are more bold and outlandish. However, the actresses at the Emmys decide to take the look in a more sophisticated direction by keeping cutouts to a minimum, and adding either a two-toned element or a gradient effect, proving that silver on the red carpet extends beyond jewelry.

Summer trends that carry into fall:

Burnt Orange: Back during Spring 2017 Fashion Week, many people were surprised that burnt orange was such a prominent color. But since darker shades of orange have been traditionally fall colors, they now work as a perfect transition for the change of seasons. A handful of stars demonstrated how to the right shade compliments most skin tones, without looking like a pumpkin.

Up and Coming Fall Trends:

Red: While red never goes out of style it is rarely considered a fall staple, but this season designers simply cannot get enough. Head to toe red has been all over the runways, and stars at the Emmys followed suit. Most stuck to bright red as opposed to crimson, and some even incorporated embroidery in their all red everything looks.

Dark Green: Perhaps the only normal fall color at the Emmys was dark green. This color will always signal a shift to cooler temperatures, and needs almost no accessorizing in order to turn heads. This year, the actresses combined the color with classic red carpet fabrics like Satin, as well as timeless velvet.

Cobalt Blue: Now this is truly the color of the season! Cobalt blue was a constant theme at fashion week, and will certainly be popping up everywhere over the next couple months. It was not heavily represented at the Emmy’s, but the few statement outfits that did make an appearance signaled a style that will last all fall.
