Dress to Meet the Love of Your Life

Getting dressed – something so simple can become the most complicated process. Dressing well for a date is key to making a good impression or even meeting the love of your life. About thirty minutes before a date, a feeling of panic sets in, and you tear apart your closet crossing off item after item. Before you send pictures to friends of every outfit you own (don’t judge, you know you’ve done it), take a minute to breathe and think.

Guys: You have it easy in this category since most of the time you’re planning the date and know how dressy or casual the night will be. Try choosing a date location that requires attire somewhere in between dressy and casual because it will make picking an outfit much easier for both you and your date. I suggest wearing some nice jeans or chinos, a casual button down and shoes to match – preferably loafers or boat shoes. This outfit shows your date that you clean up well, but you don’t take yourself too seriously. Nobody likes that guy who shows up in a three-piece suit to go get sushi.

Girls: Step 1 – find out where the date is. You need to know how dressy or casual the night will be. Also, asking ahead of time is good in the case that you find out he/she plans to take you to Subway or the likes. Since you asked ahead, you now have time to remember those plans you “forgot about.” Whatever the date is, dress accordingly.

Beach date? Wear a bikini, a cute cover-up and some nice sandals.

Nice dinner? Wear a colorful dress and some heels. Stay away from black and white because these colors give off a more serious vibe rather than highlighting your personality.

If the date is during the day, then go with some chinos, a simple top and some flats. A relaxed look will make you and your date feel more relaxed.

Follow these simple style tips so you never find yourself ill-equipped to go out looking your best. To many of you, some of these tips may seem rather obvious, but you’d be surprised by what people still wear out in public. (We’re talking to you Kim Kardashian.)
