An Evening with Stephen Root

Known for his work as Milton the Stapler Guy in Office Space and much more Stephen Root is one of the most ubiquitous yet under the radar actors of our time. His IMDb credits are currently listed at 175 but that number is likely to keep rising as he amasses more roles in everything from dramatic television to comedic blockbusters. Besides being an impressively chameleonic character actor, Root is also a comprehensive voice actor whose credits include childhood favorites such as Kim Possible, Finding Nemo, and Justice League. His current roles include playing Gaston Means in Boardwalk Empire and voicing Bud Gleeful in Gravity Falls. He also stars in the film Milo along with Gillian Jacobs and Patrick Warburton, which is currently in postproduction and slated for release in 2013.

Root will be hosting a presentation and discussion along with Henry Fonte, chair of UM’s Department of Theatre Arts, tomorrow November 13, 2012 at 8pm . The event is a part of the University’s push for a more comprehensive arts and humanities education through the 2012-2013 year known as Taking Flight. Besides bringing in high profile scholars and artists Taking Flight spotlights the ongoing activities and contributions of the University of Miami’s academic community.
