A Newbie’s Guide to Spanish in Miami

Everyone knows that living in Miami can be difficult, especially if you don’t speak Spanish. So here’s our guide to simple Spanish phrases to help you manage.

-First we’ll start off easy-
Hola cómo estás? – Hi, how are you?
Response: Bien, gracias. Y tú? – Good, thanks. And you?

No hablo español. Hablas Ingles?– I don’t speak Spanish, do you speak English?

-A little Spanish to help you when you’re at a Cuban restaurant

¿Qué te gustaría ordenar?– What would you like to order?
Response: Yo quiero el numero dos – I would like the number 2 special
or
Yo quiero éste– I want this one.

¿Donde esta el baño?– Where is the bathroom?

¿Puedo tener la cuenta?– Can I have the bill?

¿Me puede dar cambio? – Can I have some change?

¡La comida fue excelente! – The food was excellent!

Derecha– right
Izquierda– left
Esta casa– It is this house
No estamos en la dirección correcta – We are not at the right address.
Vamos a la Universidad de Miami– We are going to the University of Miami.
