It’s not breaking news that 90s and early 2000s trends are back in style, but I’m not sure anyone would have seen this one coming. Perhaps the most judged look of the 2000s, the Juicy Couture velour tracksuit, has made a comeback. On February 13th, Urban Outfitters began to carry Juicy Couture in its store.
Urban Outfitters is known for being one of the most forward-thinking clothing stores in the market. Earlier this year it announced its partnership with Juicy Couture, and also shared that its Juicy Couture campaign would feature the up-and-coming singer, Tinashe. This limited edition collection does not only feature the previous Juicy Couture style, but instead incorporates classic pieces with a modern twist.
Some of the new pieces that Juicy Couture incorporated in its collections were rompers and sweatshirt dresses. These pieces were made of the characteristic Velour fabric and were labeled with the signature Juicy logo.
Of course, we can’t forget about the notorious velour tracksuit. Though there are several tracksuits that resemble the earlier designs, many of the tracksuits featured in the Urban Outfitters collection feature a few new additions. Perhaps the most stylish of the tracksuits is a black, two-piece set. The pants have the Juicy logo across the back and finish off with a wide-leg fit. The top is perhaps where Juicy chose to become the most innovative. The top is a zip-up, hoodie that has a wide, crop fit. It also incorporates one of the season’s hottest trends: bell sleeves.
Urban Outfitters and Juicy Couture hosted a launch event in Los Angeles, where Tinashe performed to celebrate the collaboration.
