7 Festival Season Fashion Essentials

Although spring break is sadly behind us, music festival season is quickly approaching. Even if you didn’t manage to snag tickets to Ultra this weekend, there are plenty more festivals to pull out all the fashion stops for in the coming months. Are you ready? Read on for the seven essentials you won’t want to forget when you’re packing your bags.

Cool Shades. A cool pair of shades are a must for looking effortlessly stylish and preventing any annoying glare from the sun during performances. Add a cute chain to avoid losing them in the crowd while you’re busy dancing.

Bodysuit. A backless bodysuit is easy to throw on with shorts when you’re in a hurry to get to the festival grounds and will keep you somewhat cooler when the sun is blazing and you’re surrounded by thousands of your closest sweaty friends. They’re also perfect for those days when you want to look on-trend but don’t feel like putting in a lot of effort.

Hands-free Bag. There’s nothing like lugging around an uncomfortable tote full of your stuff all day to ruin the fun and carefree spirit of a festival. To avoid having to worry about juggling your belongings during sets, stash your essentials in a little cross body bag or mini backpack and call it a day. You’ll be frolicking freely from set to set with the best of them. Kendall Jenner, is that you?

Comfortable Sandals. Although your feet might get a little dirtier than if you were wearing sneakers or boots, sandals are really the way to go for festivals because they prevent the unpleasant sweaty feet factor. So embrace the laid-back vibes and let your tootsies breathe as you dance the days away in a cute pair of gladiator sandals. Just make sure that you’ve broken them in beforehand; blisters aren’t the kind of souvenirs you’ll want to take home with you.

Cutoffs. It wouldn’t be festival season without classic denim cutoffs. They look great paired with a bodysuit or flowy blouse and, unlike a dress or skirt, allow you to keep cash or keys close if you’re worried about them falling out your bag. Upgrade from the standard blue or white with a unique patched pair.

Funky Accessories. If you can’t wear a crazy headpiece or a major statement necklace at a festival, where can you wear them? A festival is the perfect place to wear your unique accessories that you either don’t have anywhere else to wear, or haven’t felt daring enough to wear elsewhere. So go ahead and flaunt those flashy pieces! Anyone who’s been to a festival before can tell you that you definitely won’t be the only one wearing something “out there.”

Portable Phone Charger. We all know that phone batteries like to fail us at the worst times, i.e. when you’re trying to capture every second of your fave artist’s performance. Don’t be a chump and hope that your phone battery will last this time. Keep one of these convenient cordless phones chargers in your bag for easy charging so that none of your Snapchat friends have to miss out on your 300-second long story of concert video.

So before you jet off to the desert for Coachella or hit up NYC for Gov Ball in the next few months, get your wardrobe in check and prepare for the festival weekend of your dreams (and maybe a few good snapshots for the ‘gram of you totally living it up in that flower crown).
