It’s almost here. Enter: Ultra Music Festival. The most important? “Has anyone seen Molly?” No. Your outfit. You want to be a stand out this year. Follow this guide because we know you’re begging for the dish.
The Dragon of the West
Coachella has been an Indie go-to since its inception in 1999. With style and celebs having a huge impact on the hot, dry landscape, it comes as no surprise that a “Coachella-esque” look blossomed. Some of Coachella’s fundamentals – studded vintage Levi’s, faded USofA tees, motorcycle kicks, flower headdresses – may be a hipster’s dream come true, but they can also multitask in wardrobe fit for Ultra.

Midwest Mainstay
Lollapalooza, the wet dream of any alternative-rock-music-enthusiast, began in 1997 in the heart of the Midwest – Chicago. Grant Park is covered in music festival fashionistas covered in plaid button-downs, hyper-charged florals, and lots (LOTS) of feathers to match the easy-going summer vibe. We suggest taking a feather or two and adding them everywhere – your hair, your ears, your jewelry, your shoes.

Heart of Dixie
Landlocked in Manchester, Tennessee is Bonnaroo, the eclectic music festival for the 90’s-loving, eco-friendly raver. Starting in 2002, this southern belle is a little bit country, a little bit indie, and a dash rock ‘n roll. The fashion go-to’s: Doc Martins or rainboots (because it’s f@#$ muddy), lived-in denim, and maxi skirts. Oh, and denim vests, after all this is Tennessee.

For the DIY savvy ultra-goers, take an old swimsuit top and a headband, grab a bunch of fake daisy flowers, pin them everywhere, and crown yourself the Wood Nymph of Ultra. Take an old pair of jeans (maybe those A&F ones from 8th grade that still *sigh* fit), slice ’em and dice ’em to your standards, grab your favorite color of dye (it’s literally a dollar), and create a totally unique pair of shorts! Grab a cool flag from a dollar store and wear it as a top or a cape, or even weave it through your hair. For those whom evolution has blessed with perfect eyesight, try glow-in-the-dark or neon-colored contacts.
Mix and match these festivals favorites with other inspirations from Ultras past. Neons, feathers, flowers, plaids, nudity, studs, leathers, metallics, flags. The choice is yours. Leggo.
