UM is a very fashion forward school; the Miami style is inspired by trends from all over the world so pretty much anything goes. It’s a great place to live for the expressive fashionista or fashionisto. However, if you’re not into the trends and like to keep things simple, Miami fashion can be flat out confusing. Most girls love to talk about fashion, and don’t even get us started on shopping. However, getting guys to talk about trends is about as painful as pulling teeth. Fortunately, the responses we did get are entertaining enough for their own hashtag ( maybe #ShitGuysSayAboutFashion ? ).
Dan Espinoza is a senior majoring in Economics. He says some popular trends he’s noticed on campus are, “loose tanks tops, bandeaus, high wasted jean shorts and too many crazy accessories.”
Some girls can go a little over-board with the accessories and hippy headbands, but guys don’t understand that girls love to play dress-up. When it comes to accessories, we say, the more the merrier.
Eric Peterson is a senior majoring in Industrial Engineering. He has a very fashion forward and trendy girlfriend. He says his favorite outfit his girlfriend wears consists of “high-waisted shorts and a crop top.”
Brian Winters, a junior majoring in Business Marketing, disagrees with Eric and says “crop tops are the weirdest things” he’s seen girls wear. You can’t win them all, ladies.

Kevin Pribramsky is a senior double majoring in Real Estate and Business Law and minoring in Accounting. When it comes to women, he prefers a classy girl who knows how to dress. “I think there is really something refreshing about a girl who can put an outfit together without revealing herself” says Pribamsky. The way to this guy’s heart is a maxi skirt. Pribamsky admits, “I am honestly a sucker for maxi skirts and really love that they are trending on campus.”

Kamal Daghistani is a senior with some pretty high standards, we might say. When it comes to the grungy black boots, Daghistani says he “like[s] them when they match the rest of the girl’s outfit.”
Ben Russsell, a sophomore, said rompers are out. “Rompers of any kind” are weird said Russell. Guess he doesn’t like to romp around?
Gabe Baca is a senior majoring in Broadcast Journalism. He says he’s seen some pretty weird fashion trends but one reigned supreme. “The weirdest thing I’ve seen a girl wear was a Hello Kitty helmet in class” he notes. Um, yea, that’s pretty weird.
