As we gear up for the next and final Distraction issue of the school year, the brainstorming sessions are in full blast so that we come out with ze most killer fashion spread yet. Of course, we’re looking to the recent New York and London shows to give us a good kick of inspiration, and we wanted to show you, our peoples, just what we’re mulling over during these fine fashion frenzy days. While the shows do foresee the fall fashion trends, why not just utilize what we can for an unconventional spring and summer style daze? Now we’re getting somewhere.
1. The stunning Stacy Bendet, designer for Alice + Olivia, blew away runway viewers with her new Lolita-inspired gown collection. Lux in color and heavy on outerwear and knits, her to-die-for dresses and working-woman compositions gleamed in Bendet’s signature jewel toned color blocking.
2. Diane Von Furstenberg amped up her signature wrap dresses, morphing them into jumpsuit-like ensembles that make legs appear to go on forever.
3. NYFW favorite Marc by Marc Jacobs awed crowds with dirndl-style skirts that extended slightly past the knee – and couldn’t be sexier.
4. Michael Kors presented an extremely strong, coherent collection based on brilliant furs and head-to-toe red plaid palettes. Maybe we’ll opt to replace the fur component with a different texture for the next issue, but we may be able to compensate for the fur in a different way…stay tuned!
