This Valentine’s Day, over 200 people did not spend their evening at a candlelit dinner or have a romantic night in with their significant other. Instead, they watched as eight sororities and fraternities of the Divine Nine Historically Black Fraternities and Sororities took the stage at the 2013 Greek Extravaganza Step Competition. The annual step show took place on February 14 at 8 p.m. this year, in the Maurice Gusman Concert Hall at the University of Miami. The theme for this year’s show was Disney, and each organization had to come up with a movie to base their performance around. Themes ranged from the classic Snow White, to the unforgettable classic The Lion King, and even to the more recent movies such as The Incredibles. The competition was fierce, but at the end of the night Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. took the second place trophy for the sororities, while Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. took the coveted first place spot. As for the frats, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. snagged a well-deserved second place trophy, and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. went home with first place.
